In my opinion if this is just kids playing the game terribly I really wish they wouldn't. There's plenty of games out there that are easier for young kids to play. Who's your daddy essentially a Sandbox game with objectives and that's a bad mix with young kids. Especially if they are paired with another player who actually wants to play.
You're probably right but I still think it could be AI. Many games that tout multiplayer function are actually just single player with AI. Mostly mobile game though. One of the bits of evidence I did have them might be AI is that when I play with others they don't show up in my recently played with list on Steam.
I'm still playing this game from time to time, because sometimes i do get some decent players, and I'm a competitive player myself (even tho a retired one, for now). Plus we have a competitive group of people like us who gather around to play some matches of WYD and just have fun. I've also noticed that the classic version of the game has more players that actually know what to do (probably because it's more stable and strategic) and theres a bit higher chance in finding decent player in it
