Not related to your question, but the key can ONLY unlock cabinets/drawers. Hatches, locked doors etc are unopenable. (They're actually empty areas. As the game is updated they'll become unlocked and modeled as the devs finish it.)
Locked Cabinets/Drawers are openable by Daddy without the key. (It'll say locked but Daddy can still click them to open them. They'll stay locked though so no need to get the locks again.)
Baby can open locked cabinets from the inside though. (I think people who were good at playing Daddy would lock Baby in the cabinet so he can't get out and thus win the round.)
Daddy CAN pick the key up though and hide it so the Baby can't find it.
