I'm experiencing this issue myself. I can't figure out how to play two player split screen at all.

You need to go in the controll settings and then it would show *Player 1 Uses Keyboard* and then check the square and the Player 1 will have to use the keyboard and Player 2 uses the Controller

my problem was that i did not have the second player joined by holding the back two triggers on the homescreen, top right corner of the homescreen there should be 2 clear rectangles if you have 2 players in the game

Cant use 2 controllers plus keyboard, as third player becomes unusable and doesn't have a bot profile only controller 1 and keyboard

Time to reach out to steam to request a refund. This game is unplayable, broken, and barely contains any content. The dev's took their cash and abandoned their game.

Time to speak up and request for Valve to take action.

@Harmless_Panda had the solution in another thread. Before you start the match, change the skins/character so each player are different.

I can now successfully play 3 player split screen using 3 Xbox controllers.

Like said above, you also need to join the other controllers first, by holding back buttons on each.
