Reusable Slot Machines?

I played this game a while ago from a different PC platform, and I recall that there was a way to re-use a slot machine the first time you enter a dungeon. Good for an early-game boost and for farming the early-game food. But I can't seem to remember how to do this. Does anyone know the trick to doing this? Or was it patched out in the Steam version?

Reusable with Plate G so only end game.

That's not what I'm talking about. Maybe it's for an older version of the game, or maybe it's been patched out, but I distinctly remember spending hours in the first dungeon, running through it dozens of times so that I could reuse that first slot machine to get more of those sushi rolls or whatever the lowest tier food is.
I also remember being confused when I finally decided to start the second dungeon, and not being able to reuse the slot machines, spending hours trying to figure out why that was before giving up.

It's essentially a lesser known exploit for this game, and I'm just trying to remember how to do it. Do I need to not level up? Do I need to not get platinum? Do I need to not fight the boss? Do I need to leave some enemies alive? I don't remember what the pre-req was, but I distinctly remember that there was some way to reuse that first slot machine.
