It's not the productivity, it's the mindset and prioritization. When midgame components like heavy frames need to be crafted in manufactory that requires heavy frames... you need to craft first batch manually and that is far too manual of approach if it were factorio. The same with biogenerators that have no belt inputs. Satisfactory has a different focus than factorio and it gets reflected in how they approach fixes and features. They put extra care into 3D graphics, less into the factory.

Space Exploration kept the game alive (besides other mods) and you are smart to improve on these ideas.
But you have to deliver; I want it now.

Then again, the game having a lore or similar story, will just ruin the sandbox charm the game has. Since "do whatever you want" will be overwhelmed by "do what you must", even "wait! way are you aren't you focused on your duty/obligations!"
