I believe this is to make it easier to set ghosts from the map view but it is definitely odd to not be able to open the menu from the map view.
Part of the reason could be because of space age, because when you are on the platform you don't have an inventory and can only order things to be built.
But when you play without space age, it can be a bit weird for sure.
A counter-argument to "I would hold shift", this menu allows you to place ghosts of things you don't have in your inventory and don't have on your map nearby either, so there is a use for it, even if it's not a massive use.
yeah i've played with it a bit more and gotten accustomed to the ghosts, and it does seem to be a change to the game to accommodate the DLC
i've gotten a little more accustomed to it and i think i get it a bit more from a design standpoint, but it would be nice if it was its own button so that i could choose to use one thing or another
on the plus side they've removed the distance restriction on editing building settings, so i can accept this as a fair trade
