Multiplayer Spacebar Bug?
Hi,

Whenever I play multiplayer and I press spacebar (even while not targeting anything), my character teleports back and forth, like if I were lagging.
The ping is fine though so this can't be the issue, I think. My FPS is high enough too.

Is this a known issue or is it just something on my end?

EDIT: I did some testing with the settings and after setting the latency option really low it reduces the distance of the teleport.

Not a bug: [0.12.33] Shooting breaks latency hiding[forums.factorio.com]

Factorio uses something called 'lag hiding' in multiplayer games. Instead of just lagging when it doesn't have data it lets you continue the game and makes the actual changes a few ms later. The latency option also sets the duration of that lag hiding delay.

When you (or anyone else) starts shooting the game enters "combat mode" and disables the lag hiding, this causes the player teleport.

That's by design. Trying to "fake" accurately shooting weapons and them interacting with anything (killing biters, trees, buildings) isn't something we want to take on yet so we simply turn latency hiding off when shooting guns.

It wouldn't matter if you had a CRAY super computer. The latency isn't about what your computer can do, it's about what the connection to the other computer is doing. It will be much smaller but there is latency between two computers connected on a LAN. Over the Internet is going to be worse and the farther apart the two are the worse it will be. If you can finally make a network connection with zero delay between the sending and receiving of messages the entire world will be thanking you.
