Factorio
Multiplayer doesn't work with players on same network
I can play multiplayer with other players from different countries without any problem but I can't play with anyone in my house. I tried using Hamachi to make a LAN network and it still won't work. The game appears on the public games list but unable to join. Is same 2 players having the same IP the issue?

how u can have the same IP in the LAN? oO

all LAN-PC's must have different LAN IP's.. like "192.168.0.2" and "192.168.0.3" and router is "192.168.0.1"

Aren't you on the same LAN already?

Try the "Play on LAN" option instead of "Host new game".

Maybe? Shared public IP could be a problem when trying to play over the internet. Setting a different port could help, if there is an option for it. However, unless you want other, non-local players to join as well, just create a local game (as mentioned above).
Got hamachi to work, I think just creating LAN doesn't work because of same IP but hamachi assigns new IP addresses but still had to manually connect via typing the IP address and still had to look through the settings before finally getting it to work. But considering the price of Factorio I had to go through a lot of trouble to get it to work unlike other games which just work.

Don't know, detected IP was all identical across both computers. Maybe because I'm on 5G?
I'm not sure what "detect IP" refers to, but if you are on the same local network (LAN) the IP you have to use to connect is your LAN IP and not your public IP (the one you access internet with).

To find your IP, hit the windows+R keys, type cmd in the box that appears.
In the command prompt that appears (usually a medium sized window with white text and black background) you want to type ipconfig and press enter.
(this is the typical way to get the command prompt, windows 10 can also get there with a right click on the start menu and selecting "windows powershell" that has a blue background instead of black but is essentially the same thing and will work the same way with the ipconfig commage)

The line that will give you your LAN IP adress is:
Adresse IPv4. . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.1.12
usually it starts with 192.168, the last two numbers can vary depending on how your router is set up, but both computers should have a different adress.

how are you 'detecting' the IP address? i'm sure its detecting your WAN address, not the LAN address.

i'm guessing the two computers are connected to the wireless access point via WiFi? most routers block peer to peer WiFi connections for security reasons. there might be an option to disable that. does your wireless access point have ethernet plugs? if so wire to it directly.

if not, you could get a cross over ethernet cable. connect the two computers directly. assign their NIC cards unique IP addresses, with the same subnet mask.

Most NICs handle the cross-over if you just use a standard cable.
Thank you everyone for the replies, didn't notice them until now, in the end I got Hamachi to make it work but I will try to find the LAN IP next time I play instead of the internet IP.
