Mouse unintentional double-clicking issue only with steam version

In-game, whenever I click once it does two click inputs, making it difficult to do regular things in the game, like clicking on the bottom toolbar doesn't work as it instantly picks up and places back the item, clicking anything in the craft menu crafts it twice, and right-clicking doesn't pull exactly half the stack out of the inventory.

I also had this issue on the main menu screen, with a single click input clicking the button under the mouse, then if the next menu screen has a button in the same position, clicking that as well. For some reason changing the game to opengl mode (with the launch option or the appdata config) fixed this for the menu screens, but not for gameplay. Resetting all keybindings and reinstalling the game did not help.

I've also tried using a different mouse, and experienced the same issue. However, I only see the issue when launching the steam version, but not the version from the official website. It only started happening recently (coming back to the game after not playing it for months), but I see the same behavior even if I use the betas tab to downgrade to much older versions, such as 0.14. I downloaded the latest version from the official website and that one does not have the double-click issue, while the steam version of the latest build does have this issue.

Do you have any other (newly installed) software running that might interfere with Factorio? Since you tried downgrading to 0.14 and the error still appeared it has to be something on your machine. Especially since it only happens on the Steam-build and not on the website version.
