Factorio Freezing (game not computer)
Hey guys, I am loving Factorio, but every so often it will freeze and I will have to 'ctl alt delete' out of the game/crash and restart the game up again, which doesn't take long but is pretty annoying.

CPU Temps seem fine, and none of my other games are freezing so I am thinking its some sort of bug, but I am not very good on computers. Anyone know what the issue might be? I just got the game so I dont know if this is because of an update or just the game itself in general. Nvidia drivers are up to date and I am using version 0.15.30 (build 30950)

Many thanks!

Well guys turned out my problem was bad memory! So maybe use memtest and check!

I'm having the same issues. The game just randomly hangs. No error message or weirdness, just stops responding. Happens during gameplay, menus. I also did a memcheck, but that came out clean.

This was also happening on the demo, but I thought perhaps that was using old code so I bought the game and it died during the main menu trying to start up the game. I checked the forums.factoria site for any known issues that sound like this but didn't see anything.

Tried his advice?

Yeah I did a MemCheck and there were no issues reported.

I hate to be "that" guy and say this, but this is seriously the only game that I have any issues with that happen on a regular occurance. If 3-4 times can be called regular... I'll keep playing and see if i can notice any sort of pattern and report back if I notice anything.

Ok, played for quite a few more hours with 0 crashes. Only thing I can figure is that I did a reboot when I had to do the memCheck. I never turn my computer off and can't remember the last time I did a reboot. So yeah, looks like the reboot fixed my issue..

Windows OS are notorious for collecting garbage data & gradually becoming sluggish the longer they are left running without a reboot. More noticeable when you run lots of different programs on each day.
You ought to reboot 1-2 times a week, at minimum, just to keep your PC running well & avoid some odd behaviour (such as the freeze you encountered).

Ok, i take my previous statment back. i'm still experiencing intermittent crashing.

1)Once I had the menu up, and it locked up. However I could still hear all the music and sound effects and if I used the keyboard to walk around i could hear my guy walking, But nothing would move on the screen.

2) Just had another one where I was placing a belt and that game locked up. Music was still playing however.

3) A few other misc crashes that I have no details for. Just locked up during gameplay.

Is there an official location where we can write up bugs or do the devs regularily scan this forum?

Edit: I just realized my nvidia drivers are quite old. Installing new ones and will see if that makes a difference.
