Strange lag on a LAN server.
I've been having this problem while playing on a dedicated headless LAN server. The host is wired, I'm on wi-fi.

The connection is always smooth at the begining, but then I randomly start getting these consistent and persistent lag spikes. They are like clockwork, spiking each second, making the game unplayable. And so far it's only happened once that they went away by themselves.

If I close the game, turn the wifi on and of and then restart the game, or the host restarts the server, or both, the problem is usually resolved. For a bit, sometimes not even a minute.

I've had a couple of gaming sessions on the server going without a single lag spike from start to finish, so I don't know what might be the cause of the problem. We don't even have a huge base yet.

I'm not even really sure it's a network issue.

Start with some measuring of what is going on, on the server.
Both when running the game and when idle.
Bandwidth? CPU usage? Storage? RAM?
You have to make sure that the hardware you are providing Factorio isn't the issue.
Both my computer and the server are more than capable of running the game. Network shouldn't be an issue, as I've said, I've had a couple of sessions without lag.

One wierd thing I've noticed is that when the lag begins, my UPS, which is normally 60, risies up to around 80, or even 100. And my latency is 60 ticks, give or take a couple.
