Multiplayer server online 24/7?
Does anyone know whether or not a multiplayer server (an external one that I pay for monthly) keeps "running" the map after all players disconnect? This kind of seems to be the case and I can't find any info/setting about this on the administration page. Any experience?

The server does not keep running once all players have left the server, i have tested this by starting research then leaving for a bit then coming back and it has not moved.

Thanks for the help, seems like one of my inbred friends majorly screwed up then, I hope one of the backups can fix that stuff^^

Yea the server runs only if at least 1 player logs on and it stops running when the last player logs off. Its better to keep lots of autosaves as people make mistakes and autosaves are Godsend!

The server will stop the simulation when the last player leaves the game. It won't continue the map (assembler progress, research, biters,...) nor will it autosave during that time.

Starting the server with the --no-auto-pause switch will keep the server running even if no player is connected. Be careful with that setting, biters may take your base apart during that time.
I've been on a dedicated server that had no players on it and the map continued to play, we would actually have to manually pause the game as the last player left in order to keep the bugs from grinding whatever we built into dust...

for further details try out this forums guide to a dedicated 'non-client' server: http://steamcommunity.com/app/427520/discussions/4/412448792356085908/
