Should I keep all roboports within range of each other?
I'm only using the roboports for construction as I think it's a bit cheaty to fly all your resources around, and I'm just wondering how many I should build.

Is it a good idea to link them all up even when moving far from your base? And would linking with the green zone still be fine? (the line between them disappears when the orange zones don't cross)

the green zone is construction bot range, but yeah as you noticed it will not establish a link to another roboport unless the orange (logistic) zones overlap or touch. You don't NEED to have them connect, unless you want your construction bots to cover your entire base. If you have a bot stationed in a port and no other ports connect, they will ONLY build or deconstruct (or repair) items within the ports range.

Connecting them to other roboports lets them move between roboports as necessary, and uses both ports as their "range".

So, if it only overlaps with the green zone, the construction bots won't move between them either?
I've decided that the repair tool/construction bot conveyor belt going everywhere idea is messy anyway, I might keep everything in orange range and figure out how to use the logistic bots to move those :)

Yes, robots will only move between roboports if they are connected by a yellow line, which means they need to have an overlapping logistics zone (the orange one).

Putting repair packs or construction robots on a belt doesn't make much sense. Repair packs you can just put in passive provider or storage chests and the bots will get them if needed.
You can also add construction/logistics robots to the network by inserting them directly into a roboport.
