how to split a belt?

hello guys

i have stone running on a belt going into a furnace
but how can i split it that like half of it goes towards the furnice and the other half goes away into a chest as normal stone?

Use a splitter. It will send half the stuff to the furnace, the other half to the chest.

Splitters have 2 inputs and 2 outputs. For your situation you only need to use 1 input, and the flow will be divided 50/50 between the 2 outputs.

You can also use them to combine 2 belts, or to "even out" the flow between 2 un-balanced belts

is there also a way to filter items? lets say you have iron and copper on a single belt but you want to spit them into 2 different belts?

No way for the splitter to do it natively, but you can use a trick like in the wiki link below.

Just a warning on using splitters to filter items to each to one side of a belt. If the feeding belts are not full at all times the splitter will start changing sides.

Ya I learned the hard way not to do that. Ended up with some massive clogs.

Use a smart inserter instead.
