I don't think so. There's dark spots in the water but it's cosmetic.

WRONG!
There are fish in the water you can catch by "mining" them when they get close. You can eat them for a minor health boost.

Oh so that's what those fish icons I saw were about. But the bugs (the enemies) don't swim.. no?
