How fast are inserters?

I'm looking for a number in items per second because I'm trying to figure out how many inserters I need putting various materials on belts for a new factory.

Depends on the inserter your using. If you use a fast inserter, i think it does 1 item per 4/5th second and a regular one probs 1 every 2 seconds. Burner, long handed and regular have same speed, smart and fast one aswell.

i did a test
every 18 items an inserter moves a fast insert moves 50
a regular inserter can move 50 items in a minute a fast inserter can move 139 a minute

It depends on the level of stack size research, & whether it is to / from a chest or belt.
