A good way to check the value of signals is to link the wire to a power pole.
My guess would be that it's not A that is the problem but "steel plates" being doubled somehow.
A screenshot of your setup and/or a blueprint string of it would probably be useful if you want more detailed help.
You do seem to be right about the value being doubled somehow (press L to bring up logistic storage says 10k, hover over power pole and it says 20k... I could swear I looked earlier and it wasn't like that, but my memory is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (told you I would swear) terrible.
Any idea how to find and remove the doppelgangers amongst the plate of spaghetti bolognaise thrown at a wall by a toddler that is my base? Or do I just start unplugging things until the reading is fixed?
So either you read it from several places or the signal passes through deciders before reaching the place where it is doubled while also connecting directly.
When there are several sources for the same signal and the same wire, they are all added together.
