Inserter circuit condition stops at half value
So I'm using a bot logistics network. To stop overproduction, I have a constant combinator sending signals on the letter channels (not overriding anywhere) and set inserters pulling items out of production buildings to be enabled only if the number of that item in the network is under the number specified in the constant combinator.

For example (this applies to everything I've checked so far, including centrifuges and assemblers, also I'm only using red cables, and they're connected to the same network number) I have "A" set to 10k, for steel plates, and the inserters connected to the network, with a condition to be enabled of steel plates < A, and they all stop pulling steel plates out when there are 5k in the network. I increased A to 15k and they start pulling steel plates out again, but stop at 7.5k.

Is there something obvious I'm missing? Some quirk of the logistics system? A bug?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Moo.

Your best bet is to tripple-check your system.
A good way to check the value of signals is to link the wire to a power pole.

My guess would be that it's not A that is the problem but "steel plates" being doubled somehow.

A screenshot of your setup and/or a blueprint string of it would probably be useful if you want more detailed help.
My base has grown organically (and ridiculously) over the couple of hundred hours that is my first save. Any blueprint or screenshot would be about as useful as a maze to follow one of Cthulhu's tentacles.

You do seem to be right about the value being doubled somehow (press L to bring up logistic storage says 10k, hover over power pole and it says 20k... I could swear I looked earlier and it wasn't like that, but my memory is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (told you I would swear) terrible.

Any idea how to find and remove the doppelgangers amongst the plate of spaghetti bolognaise thrown at a wall by a toddler that is my base? Or do I just start unplugging things until the reading is fixed?
it depends on how you are reading the value but since you mentionned "logistics" then I assume you connected a roboport and read the network's content from it.

So either you read it from several places or the signal passes through deciders before reaching the place where it is doubled while also connecting directly.

When there are several sources for the same signal and the same wire, they are all added together.
Yup. Found it. For some reason that made sense in my exact brain at that exact moment, there was another roboport in the vast fustercluck that was set to output logistic system contents. Thanks for the help!

If you have a 100h+ spaghetti base that would be a good thing to share, at least the most spaghetti part of it. That's the kind of base that's in the trailer after all.
