The topics you looked at are grossly over estimating a beginner's time to learn. A beginner to the game will launch a rocket in 20-30 hours at a MINIMUM. 10 hours is FAST, even for an experienced player.
Learn on Peaceful mode, and go at normal speed. You'll be glad you did.

Specifically, every command that starts with /c, /command, /measured-command or /silent-command will cause achievements to be disabled, even if the command entered is invalid.
