Is Factorio playable with touchpad instead mouse
I played a demo for a couple of minutes and it feels ok (thankfully my touchpad has mouse like clicks) but I wonder how things will be later on with more complicated infrastructure and more activities. Is this game similar to RTS where micromanagment and clicks per minute matter or rather more slow-paced experience?

You can play without pin-point reaction of your cursor but it's still a game that is fairly reliant on the mouse cursor even when you use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible so it would probably not feel all that great after several hours.

No i wouldn't say you need a high amount of clicks per second, its just that the loss of precision can be quite noticeable mostly when you are going to place a lot of belts etc. But still i do think the whole game is playable with a mouse pad with out it being too much of a hinderance.

Though you can change this game to be more like an RTS I would say Factorio acts more like a Tycoon or Colony builder type game....if you setup well in advance there shouldn't be a reason why you can't play with a touchpad (though a draw pad would be more accurate). I recently finished a Vanilla playthrough (to get some achievements after 3600hrs) and I can't remember if I ever had to "react fast" ..... so I probably didn't have to.

Besides; I've seen people play stuff like doom and/or Fornite on touchpad...Factorio doesn't come near that level of activity...or shouldn't xD

This is achieved by giving the player aim assist, at which point it's basically the computer playing against the other players.

I am not sure how this would work in Factorio.

I played a few FPS with a touchpad when I had a laptop, it's not exactly great in terms of results but it's still way better than with a gamepad.

If it helps anyone else.. yeah, trackpad is essentially unplayable for combat but it can be used for basic stuff.

However, as somebody who plays *mostly* with a laptop and a trackpad, I can recommend what I just discovered. Set up a keyboard shortcut for building something. Get a bunch of guns. Install the Fill4Me mod (or similar, which fills guns with ammo as they are deployed).

You can then, even with a trackpad, approach an alien base and spam down a few guns and take it out. Later combat of course involves artillery, but for early game combat, I just hold down the WASD keys and "N" (my mapping for "build") and run around the alien bases.
