If you have radars in place you can zoom in from the map view and see the area that is "lit" on the map view nearly like when you are outside of the map view.
If scrolling the mouse wheel doesn't work, check settings > controls because you might have rebound things to conflict with the zoom function.
Game itself only supports keyboard+mouse, any other input type will be done through some external remapping software. If you're using one of those, you're going to need to check its settings.
If you're using keyboard+some other mouse-y pointing device with no scroll wheel, go to Settings -> Controls and remap the various zooms to something you can use.
Specifically "zoom in" and "zoom out" in "basic interraction" as well as "zoom into world" and "zoom out of world" in "advanced interraction".
There are various other functions that use either the mouse wheel scroll or mouse wheel click (usually you can get that mouse wheel click either with a specific button or by clicking on both left and right click on keypad for laptops (which I assue is what you meant by "keypad" because it doesn't ring any bell outside of the place with the numbers on the right of a standard keyboard).
Keep in mind that you can use any combination of Ctrl, Shift and/or Alt in addition to a key so you should be able to get it to something that isn't too weird to use without conflicting with other functions.
Try: 1. Putting 2 fingers on the touch pad and moving them apart (zoom in) Or pinch them together (Zoom out). Like how you do on a cellphone.
Try 2. Putting 2 fingers on the touch pad and sliding them upward's together, (Zoom in) or downwards (zoom out).
Try 3. Same as number 2. But with 3 fingers.
Try 4. Sliding 1 finger, up or down the far-most left or right edge of the touchpad. Sometimes they have a side sectioned off for this.
Try 5. Touchpads usually have 2 buttons for left and right mouse buttons. Some have a 3rd button that you can hold in, as you slide your finger. But this is the most unlikely.
Step 2 make sure it doesn't escape
Step 3 use the scroll wheel
