Centrifuge giving 0.0 Uranium-235?
I am unable to get Uranium-235 to begin with. The Centrifuge isn't making any Uranium-235, it only makes 0.9 Uranium-238, but 0.0 Uranium-235. Anyone else having this bug?

OH i see, i saw some other post saying it gives less than 0.0. I think this should be fixed so it doesn't seem like it gives you none. Should show "0.025" instead of "0.0"

0.0 is not actually 0. It is just rounded.

This feature is inspired by the real world, where Uranium 235 is a rare isotope.

The chance to get it out of the earth is very little.

You can use the "kovarex-enrichment-process", yet you have to get some Uranium 235 to start with, which will take some time.

After that it is just a question of how smart you build your setup, so you can always use more for the enrichment process.

I think it's fair to give at least some value representation in the game. Because the icon is there, people rightfully realize that it is being created, however, because the value is 0.0, it is pretty much the only resource in the game that requires you to look it up on the net.

I think the value limiter is there for the liquids so you do not get to see "102.005 heavy oil" and is instead rounded down. This process just repeated for U-235, which is so far the only example where it is actually desirable to see the actual value.

I must agree with Agent Orange on this, i see where you guys are going with this, but there should be some kind of value assigned, or at least a note on the "Uranium-235" icon saying that it has a chance of 1 to 200+/- in being created.

So is it a random probability of getting U-235, or does it always happen once every 200 or so pieces?

Seems random. I went into cheat mode to be able to spawn/craft infinite items, and i then Shift-Left Clicked on the "Uranium processing" icon. It gave me 48 Uranium-238 and 1 Uranium-235 the first time, then the second time it gave me 48 Uranium-238 and 0 Uranium-235, then the 3rd time it gave me the same amount as the second time, but then the 4th and 5th gave me the same amount as the first time. It seems to be at a ratio of 1/50, sometimes it is 1/100. So yes it seems random. If it wasn't for the devs being ignorant and not responding everytime i ask important questions, we would by now have an answer to this.

That's weird that you got so much. It took me like 4 hours running 6 centrifuges constantly to get 40 U-235 to start the enrichment thing.

The ratio is 99.3% Uranium-238 and 0.7% Uranium-235, this means you get (on average) 1 U-235 for every 142 U-238. It is calculated for every pass of the recipe individually, which means you have a chance of 0.7% to get U-235 instead of U-238 every time the process runs.

The devs are considering making this more clear, since you are not the first one to complain that it says 0.0 U-235.

Any idea why they decided to make it a random thing like that? Instead of, for example, "Recipe consumes 1430 ore, produces 1 U-235 and 142 U-238 every time"?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But seriously, no i don't. That is how the system works, i have no problem with it. One of the devs (daniel0674) finally replied (which is all i wanted), and answered this.

I'm not a dev, just a volunteer moderator. I can only speculate why it is the way it currently is, but I think it works quite well apart from the fact it confuses people because it says 0.9 / 0.0 instead of exact numbers.

In my personal opinion I think it's better for recipes to only require a small amount of ore (instead of 1430) for one pass, they would also have to increase processing time x143 to keep the balance. It could also be an interesting feature for modders since they can now define recipes that work with probabilities.

This has possible for a while (e.g. there used to be an infinite mining mod that turned concrete + explosives into random ores+stone) but simply wasn't used in vanilla at all.

Of course it's random!

It's how factorio handles ALL recipes with fractional outputs. We know this from observing various tree farms in action, among other things.

That's been in the game for a LOOOOOONG time now, in case you didn't know.

Huh, you're right, that feature has been around for more than 3 years now. No idea why I thought it would be new :D

I've been messing with it and decided its easier and more time efficient to let my robots just build out solar fields. Nuclear power works great, but once I lost my last 235, it took HOURS to get one back. Pointless waste of time since I was able to throw up 50MW solar fields before i got a single one.
