When asked to bow down to the insane cancel mob, the Factorio dev said
"Take your cancel culture and shove it up your [bass]"
And with that the cancel mob lost its mind. And thus, a legend was born.
The other comment is cherry picking to hell and back.
Your comment seems pretty biased too. Ignoring the people trying to review bomb the game with lies such as "transphobic developer" simply because the dev refused to apologise for using Uncle Bob's advice on coding. I'll admit the right wing guys made this even worse by trying to antagonise the other side with actual racist and transphobic remarks though, but I will agree with them on one thing: Cancel culture should be stopped immediately. Its not only disgusting behaviour, but its also harmful to your own side. Acting like an army of bullies trying to destroy peoples lives for minor slights isn't exactly a good look to the average person.
Eh, at least this nonsense is pretty much over now.
Most Modern Cars are derived from German Engineering.
Most Schools and Universities were built by Slave owners who had money to spend.
does it make those things terrible and wrong to be used. No.
the Information is vital regardless of the person political views.
No one should have to apologise for saying someones idea was great just because that person has a political view not aligned to yours.
But the current political landscape dictates that if you dont like someone, everyone must also not like them, and must give an official public announcement of their hatred for said person. its like Parading a Heratic from the 10th century around the city getting them to shout down their ideology as punishment. except its not a city its twitter, and its not ideology its politics.
chances are the guy doesnt agree with this Bob guy at all, but people have no right to ask him to berate the man for his beliefs just because they want to hear it from his mouth. hes right to tell them to sit and spin.
Wanted to give you an award for that comment but steam won't let me.....so I'll just leave a +1....
It was three parts "cancel culture is what we practice in the name of benefiting T people, therefore criticizing it must be hatred of T people" and one part "only mustache twirling villains complain about cancel culture, so if you complain about it you must be a mustache twirling villain".
don't forget the "if you don't practice cancel culture you're literally trying to murder me" argument.
Worst part... These people are tiny minority of the major population. They just are so vocal that devs and other companies get scared and think that they have more attraction than they actually are.
They always use excuses to gain more power and create totalitarian state where you either have "the right opinion" or you will get "reeducated".
Only people that support censorship should be censored. Rest should have the free right to have whatever ideology or opinions they want. But everyone should be able to criticize them if he/she disagree.
I believe they are entitled to their views, so long as they do not cross a line that could be considered harmful other than letting know that they are dissatisfied.
but yeah, the Northern Hemisphere (United Nations) is going fascist again but with the left wing taking all the place instead. Looking forward to the incoming chaos... it's gonna be a good one once Covid is on the verge of being forgotten.
Crossing that line is what it means to be cancel culture.
In overly simplistic terms, cancel culture is basically a mob that tries to coerce everyone associated with the target (even something as weak as simply talking about the target) into joining their mob*. And to emphasize the point, this isn't just an attempt at social exile -- it goes so far as to get a target's employer to fire them, or getting their bank to drop their accounts.
And, as the previous poster mentioned, sometimes the mob activities do so far as lynching. The FNAF creator, for example, was apparently receiving direct threats to himself and his family.
* E.g. the way the anti-Uncle Bob mob tried to force Kovarex to use his platform to join them in condemning Uncle Bob.
From what I saw from some of UN statements, they are on the road that is dangerously in the direction of totalitarianism.
But indeed they aren't fascists, though fascism, nazism and communism are both totalitarian and left wing and there is more that connect them than what separates them. While UN push socialistic ideas like "human rights".
Another trick of these people, they often use names that sound good, but in fact have nothing or not much to do with what one would assume from the name, like for example "social justice", "people's democracy" or "worker's party", the list goes on, but I bet you get my point.
Most people just throw these words at anyone who these people disagree with, so fascist, nazi, bigot, rape, *putbuzzwordhere*phobe are for most are completely meaningless buzzwords in the present.
Not to mention most people show complete failure when it comes to distinguish between authoritarianism and totalitarianism.
Fun Fact: the 4th secretary general of the UN ( from 1972 to 1980) was a suspected Nazi called Kurt Waldheim... (intelligence officer of the German army during the 3rd Reich)...
But yeah... they are not fascists, they just act as dangerously as them, and at this point pretty much are a totalitarian system.
The way I see it though, "Cancel Culture" basically are the "storm troopers" that the Nazis had... for the left wing socialists.
So all that said, I agree with you that I used the wrong term by using "fascists", but its still the best word to describe what the UN are doing.
