How to manually install mods

Can someone please give me the pathing for manually installing a mod for the steam installation of Factorio?

This mod is for the older 0.11.x version of Factorio and won't work with 0.12.x.
Use the SpeedButtons[github.com] mod instead.

Ok, can someone explain to me, simply, how to install mods? I've looked in the user/user/app/roaming and no factorio folder. I made one, now its appdata/roaming/factorio/mods Ive put mods in there, both zipped and upzipped, nothing. I've gone through the folders in steam, nothing remotely like a mods folder. I even tried adding a "mods" folder, nothing. I've checked every step in game in the mods tab, nothing. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks for replies.

If you had to make a mods folder yourself you've been in the wrong folder. Factorio will make one when it starts for the first time.

Depending on the operating system, this list should help:
For Windows: c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Factorio\mods\
For Linux: ~/.factorio/mods
For Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/factorio/mods

On Windows, press Win+R to open the Run dialog and enter %appdata%\Factorio\mods

I was at users\name\roaming\factorio, not users\name\appdata\roaming\factorio. The appdata folder does not display on my computer for some reason, the win r command worked though, thanks.

appdata is hidden and by default explorer doesnt display hidden folders and files

I put some mods in the mod folder and they dont pop up in game in the mods tab. Is anyone else haveing this issue? And does anyone know how to fix it?

did you extract them? you need to put the zipfiles in.
they also need to be for the version you're playing.
