Nuclear Reactor Mod Request
This is a mod request.

I'm fascinated about Nuclear reactors. Can any competent modder make mod for Nuclear Reactors?

The mod is about Nuclear Maintenance. You carry a huge risk by building a power plant that becomes a threat to your factory on its own if you don't maintain it properly.

Just making it explode when it's destroyed is kinda anti-climatic. It should be a threat in a huge AoE.

Here are some of my ideas for the mod:
- When it fails/destroyed, It explodes with a huge radiation rather than plain atomic bomb.
- Radiation also kills players within thresholds.
- Radiation accelerates evolution way faster than pollution.
- It may destroy your entire factory if it's in ideal place.
- You cannot retrieve your Nuclear Reactor. You must deconstruct it
and some other risks and stuff

I believe this adds way much learning curve and adds some challenge to endgame scenarios. Whether you should build one or not.

If mean it produces radiation while working... One major point of nuclear is less pollution. Though they do have problem with cooling systems. As the water becomes radiated. So if need build it near water and it effects said water over time. Would be more realistic.

And if added new version of bugs.. Water bugs! Then it could mutate them and cause them to spawn from radiated waters. So would need water to cool system.. but could also be point of danger with spawning bugs. So need protect it from the same water it needs to cool.

Your reactor does not cause radiation, your nuclear weapons does that.

Well too be fair it does. The water used to cool the rods gets irradiated. But ya otherwise nothing unless get leak lol

IRL a typical coal plant causes WAY more radioactive fallout than all our nuclear accidents combined (and maybe bombs) in like... a day or a year?

I cant remember the exact amount, but it was pretty ridiculous.

Just so you know that, in case you want this because you wanted some sort of "realism" in your factory... Then you should make your boilers become radioactive too :P

If the reactor is made in a halfway-competent manner, the water that enters and leaves never gets close to the reactor. Rather, what happens is that extremely pure water cools the rods, passes through the heat exchanger and returns to the reactor. A second loop containing pure water (completely isolated from the first) is heated by the first loop in the heat exchanger, turning the water in the second loop to steam. That steam drives a turbine, then gets captured and liquified. If this water needs cooling, regular water is used to cool it. That's the water that actually leaves the power plant.

If the water that gets irradiated actually leaves the reactor, that's not only a massive radiological issue but also immensely expensive. You may think that it's just water like what comes out of the tap, but no. Tap water is too impure. It needs to be, as pure water can cause your cells to burst like overfilled balloons. In order to be used in a nuclear reactor, it needs to go through several extra stages of purification, which takes a lot of extra energy and thus drives the cost up.
