I saw that you want to go to Factorio 2 - will that be just improving Factorio or will we have to buy that?

Both. Factorio 2.0 is just an update to the current factorio. But there is also going to be an expansion you can buy that has more stuff. Like multiple planets, Railway bridges etc. Read the blog if you want to know more.

There is no Factorio 2, there's just an expansion to Factorio that will have a cost you need to pay to add it. Like the old expansions to Starcraft and such. Have a look at the FFFs at factorio.com/blog

EDIT: To a certain degree it can be confusing that there will be "Factorio version 2.0", but that's just an update to Factorio, and what it seems like you're asking about is the expansion. The versioning has nothing to do with a sequel. 2.0 is a version number, not a game numbering.
