Separate filter inserters were eliminated and filter functionality was added to the other inserters.

White inserters are now stack inserters and can stack items on belts.

Are you perhaps playing on a map that was created before 2.0?
In a map made in 2.0, it doesn't show in the bonus section (at least in the default version).

I thought those stack inserters were going to be useless until I used them to unload the ore trains. They immediately solved shortages to the smelters I was unsuccessfully trying to resolve by scaling up the smelter plant.

Those are the one thing unique to SA which I wish was included in the base game somehow. Not the belt or the assorted "enhanced" version of other building and weapons. Just the stack inserter. Elevated rails and quality are DLC content which can be enabled without SA. It's too small a thing for a mod, but it would've been nice for that to be available without SA. IMHO.

i'm not in the least interested in the bulk of the expansion, but theres a few pieces i would like. the elevated rails and stacking would be something i'd like to have, while being on the fence about quality. i'd also like it if some of the more unique things, like the foundry and other buildings would be available outside of requiring space age being enabled, but obviously requiring the dlc having been purchased.

i imagine a modder will come up with something at some point that is real close to what i want and i will be happy enough, but it would be nice if i didn't need one.

I'm uninterested, generally, in the quality mechanic. I may at some point experiment with it just because it's there. I was initially interested in the expansion. As the information grew about it I lost some of the drive to explore Space Age. It sounds interesting, and I may, again at some point, do a playthrough of SA. The elevated rails being available without loading Space Age was enough for me to get the DLC on their own. The fun I'm going to have with them will cover the price alone, the rest is about the same as most other major, though less than overhaul, mods - maybe someday.

Even knowing what's in SA, including the foundry and the rest, I'm content to leave that to SA. Just the stack inserter is the one SA thing I'd like to have in the DLC base game.

Quality is underrated. It scales up just about anything in the game with proper investment, everything from grid sizes, shield strength, movement speed and weapon range to radar and power pole coverage, assembler crafting speeds, research lab speeds and inserter turn speeds, and more.

Yeah stack inserters are amazing for unloading anything onto a belt. Feeding copper wire to circuits on a belt is a lot better now.
