Worms spawning close enough to defenses to hit them is pretty damn annoying
Especially with myself being on another planet a lot of the time, the worms (the stationary spitter alien thing) spawning so close defenses that they can hit them is something I could really do without.

It causes perpetual notification spam of turrets and drones getting blown up, rebuilding, and repeating ad nauseam.

If the bugs have a minimum distance from player buildings they build nests at, does anyone know where to find and mod it with a rough +50%? If having to run back to Nauvis every time this happens before I get to the point of saturating it with artillery is part of the intended experience, then I intend not to experience it.

Worms are an enemy on Vulcanus. You don't need defenses on Vulcanus. You only need offenses. Worms will never leave their territory unless provoked, and the only way to provoke them is to build in their territory or shoot at them.

You mean biters? Just clear out your pollution cloud and build a big wall around it with turrets and repair bots before heading to another planet.

They don't have a "minimum distance".
It only feels like they do because when they get close enough, they get agro'ed by the turrets and the expansion team attacks (and usually dies).

Even when you are on other planets, you still have at least the tank that you can remote-control to go destroy the worms in question.

Later on, you will have access to artillery and spidertrons to be able to clean them up even more easily.

why not just place some new turrets remote down with bots? or import some rocket turrets?

Hes talking about biters expanding close enough your walls that the big worms which spawns with the new nest can out reach your turrets and keeps destroying them.

Remote controlled tank is the answer here before artillery

In that case I would say more turrets, more research into turret damage and speed.

And of course yes, drive the tank around remotely eliminating the source of the problem :steamhappy:

All the speed and damage in the world wont make up for lack of range. I had this problem when I was on Fulgora and suddenly a behemoth worm started spitting at my laser turrets. Fortunately I had set up roboports with construction robots so i just dismantled part of the defensive wall and rebuilt it closer to the worm, and then moved it back, and that can be done remotely.

I don't really see the problem though. Worms are there and you need to prepare for them. I hadn't done that, but now I know how to handle it.

More turrets wouldn't do anything.
OP is talking about a new nest being created close enough to his defenses that worms can shoot at the defenses.

Even a medium worm out-ranges a legendary gun turret, a big worm out-ranges a legendary laser turret and a behemoth worm out-ranges every turrets except legendary rocket turret (even epic quality is out-ranged).

Of course, the "perfect" situation for the worm placement is extremely rare and unfortunate, but it can definitely happen.

This, yes.

I was completely unaware you could make a remote-controlled tank though, my thanks!

use artillery turret.
or schedule artillery wagon route if you don't want to build a long belt/request chest.

This was the intended long-term solution yes, and the reason I was on another planet (tangential side-tracking aside).

It happend to me today. some random biters made a base close to my "wall of china" and kept destroying my bots repairing it. The only thing to do is to purge them, remote use a tank or spidertron.

Your perimeter walls should be inside artillery coverage if you're late game enough that behemoth worms spawn consistently and close.

That might have applied before the DLC or with the default difficulty settings, but evidently isn't the case here.

I feel its kind of a crummy design decision to begin with, but at least there's a stopgap remedy I didn't know about.

I plant thousands trees after destroying them.
This will let them hard to recreate worms, at least much slower.
But you will need agriculture towers to produce seeds.
