Signals question on limiting items in a chest.
Ok I am trying to design a small dropstation to receive stuff from my ship. It needs to be compact so doesnt interfere with factories on other planets.

So what I am doing this..
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3487996805
But I have more items then inserters can be placed.

So I am trying to find way to limit items in a box to a set amount. BUT also have different times in same box. Im hoping to get 3 or 4 items per provider box.

So how would i wire up each box to hold set items? I would just leave a item in each slot as place holder. But then inserter could likely end up backing up with wrong item in its hand. So it needs to read box contents. And drop pod needs to not order more then needed.

That is crude and REALLY complicated method you're going there with, give me a second to get into the game

Here, try this one instead, that's what I'm using.
I made short descriptions on combinators, so you know what they do.

What is wrong with just letting the items stay in the landing pad? If you need more inventory slots you can use cargo extensions.

This is what I do. Just leave it in the landing pad and cargo bays with a request limit set on the cargo landing pad and then use logistic bots to fulfill requests from requester and buffer chests.

I didnt know dropstation would work with bots? First time really messing with them.

Thank you I will try it out.

I use bots too. My landing pad dumps everything into purple chests and then I have a large array of yellow chests nearby. Using combinators, I have a list of items I want and compare it to the list of items I have and if I'm short on any items, a request is placed on the landing pad to get those items from my spaceship(s).

You can see everything I explained near the top of the screenshot.

And because I know you're going to ask, the roboports are for their charge ports. I don't want my robots spending any time waiting in line to recharge. This particular part of my base has a lot of robot traffic pass by it.

Actually I wasnt going to ask about robo ports :-) I tend to place extra ones around as I go for increased recharging.
