Thinking about getting this on Nintendo Switch
Played the Switch demo and I played more efficiently there than compared to on PC which I had for a long time. For some reason, it felt more enjoyable on the Switch for some odd reason.

Anyone have both versions?

The switch is a weak machine so the game starts to slow down relatively early.
If all you want to do is launch a single rocket and call it a day then it works mostly fine as long as you don't expand too much but you can't really expect to go for megafactory.
You also don't have mods on the switch version.

Switch 2 (with better hardware and more RAM) may be announced.

I do have the Factorio game on the Switch. I also own the Steam's Deck (similar to the Switch console regarding portability and control).

That said, if you are more comfortable on the Switch and don't mind not having access to mods or Space Age expansion (before the better console comes out), then go for it.
So... Switch 2 is coming June 5th. and the switch 2 joycons have mouse sensors in them so you can use them like a pc mouse. Which is honestly a brilliant move from nintendo. Other consoles have had mouse support but barely any game would use them. Even rts games that would have really benefited from mouse controls usually didn't support mouse on consoles even if the console supported mice.

Since the new joycons have it built in and they really advertised the feature with games like civilizations 7 having mouse controls on console might finally take off.

Save your bucks and more importantly your eyes.
How much are you willing to bet? I don't mind if you want to give me easy money.

I mean not even Nintendo is so stupid they would make a switch 2 almost a decade after the original switch and make it have less processing power than the original. People have been launching rockets at 60ups on the original switch for quite a while already. You would have to be pretty ignorant on tech to think the switch 2 wouldn't be able handle Factorio.
Factorio is a game that can (assuming the player pushes it out far enough) make supercomputers cry "Uncle!" ... the only question is just how far can your hardware be pushed before it reaches that point.

Consoles, optimized PC's that they effectively are, are also frozen. A Console is at its most powerful, relative to a PC that costs the same as the Console, right when it is first released. After that, PC's keep increasing in power but the Console never does. Handhelds, such as the Switch, also trade power away to gain portability.

Will a Switch 2 run Space Age? I believe that the devs have indicated there's a decent likelihood for it to go there. Will it run it well? As well as the devs can make it. Will it run Factorio as well as a PC?

Depends on the PC specs, but most likely scenario is the Switch 2 will not run Factorio as well as the average PC. And the difference will only grow as the average PC gets more powerful while the Switch 2 stays stagnant.

Complex logic games aren't well suited for children. Why would you want to experience this game on a child's toy?

Your logic is unsound, given the following things :

Computers are also childrens toys;
Factorio can run on the handheld PC's such as the Steam Deck;
Factorio is on the first Switch.

Some of my first memories are of playing games on a computer that was released when I was 5 years old : the TI=99/4a. Hunt the Wumpus and ET The Extraterrestrial are two of them. I'd also, long before I hit 10 years of age, programmed games into the Commodore 64 from Compute and Compute's Gazette magazines. Suggesting that computers are not children's toys is silly. What else are children supposed to do with them? They ain't gonna ignore computers!

Not to mention the infantilization of children. Hunt the Wumpus? That's a logic game! Better keep it away from the kids so since they're so unsuited for thinking. /rolleyes

Don't

Space age dlc won't even come to switch (1) due to hardware limitations

Plus mods and more

Also, if you do have a switch controller, just use it to play factorio.

Steam keybind is briliant because you can key bind anywhere.

Mind you, I'm not talking about using the controller as default but using keyboard imputs you have jey binded to your controls

Exemple with the + on controller

Normal press you key bind to number 1 to 4 from keyboard

Double press + = 5 - 8

Long press = 9 & 0 + 2 more.

You essentially have access to everything plus the comfort of the controller (except for mouse precision and speed)

Logic games are not enjoyed by children nor do they benefit children. Wanting to port a computer game to a child's toy is an absurd concept. You should all feel ashamed.

I promise y'all if you block people being horrible or obnoxious on Steam forums instead of engaging with them that it'll pay dividends later.

You'll show up to a steam thread to see several people upset by some deranged comments that you didn't even see because you already blocked the guy and forgot about them when they pulled the same ♥♥♥♥ somewhere else.

The internet makes it feel like trolls are everywhere but they're actually a small percentage of commenters, just, prolific.

There's a also the distraction issue with playing something on PC. I'm tempted to check my social media accounts and current events and news

If I'm playing on a console, it's less tempting to check socials, less distracting, can't open up a browser on a Nintendo Switch.

Kind of like the fact that what you see is what you get, there is no potential for moddability or changing the default vanilla game.

Maybe I'll end up playing both Pc and Switch sometime in the future.

Accept my small token of appreciation for saying something sensible.

Is there a reason to build megafactory?
