1,1% Second star to the right and straight on till morning!
Hooray, 1.1% have finished the Space Age DLC!
I found the DLC anti-progress, I'm confused by the low percentage of players who finished the DLC.
I understand the complexity of the DLC, I think it has a lot of obstacles when it comes to progressing in the game.
My biggest criticism goes to the logistics in space, it's very frustrating and it ends up being boring to keep playing.
I'll stop for now, next year I'll go back to the game and start all over again because the game has become a mess.

It is more that a lot of people didn't play the DLC, or even 2.0.

Less people have "Research with automation" or "Steam power" (added with 2.0 but very early game) than "Computer age 2" (producing 1000 blue circuit per hour).
People burn through the new content and immediately mod it.

To get achievements, you need to play without mods.

There is too much convenience mods to play without them, hence low achievement rate.
Kyonko Mar 29 @ 6:47am
Yeah, playing with mods disables achievements. Also never really cared to "finish" a round by hitting shattered planet.
Welcome to EVERY GAME ON STEAM, where the *vast* majority of buyers never finish games.

I have games in my library I have never even started, but they seemed like a good idea at the time, and they were on sale....

also dont forget the lategame enthusiasts with all the new buildings and quality.
i will not finish the game and create the galaxy of fame snapshot till everything runs at 100k packs per minute

See that's something I will never understand. You paid money and you don't play it? I get that some games don't have replayability and so you won't play them again but not finishing it after paying money is beyond me.

It's rather easy to understand in fact, many people play to have fun and stop playing when it stops being fun.
When you have access to more games than you could feasibly play to completion anyway, there is little reason for most people to stick around after it stopped being fun.

I would rather "waste" the money than soldier through just to finish a game I no longer care about at the time.
That doesn't mean I can't come back at a later date if I ever get the itch to do so, there are many games I come back to every few years for a few tens of hours, then leave them for something else again.

It's just a different way to enjoy what we pay for, a different value put on the time spent having fun and potentially also a difference in the amount of disposable income we have available (although with the many free games out there, there is a lot of time you could spend even without paying too).

I would like to add to Fel's claim. In some cases it's not that 'You stop playing it', in some cases it's 'You take a break from it'. Heck, I regularly return to games after more than a year of break, just because I was not in mood for it at that specific time.

Though in case of e.g. Factorio (or few other games) which disables Steam Achievements the second any mod appears, just like Kyonko mentioned.

In my case I decided to halt my modded playthrough after I finish SA 100%, though I am pretty sure that my next non-modded playthrough will be either if friend of mine specifically wants to go for achievements in multiplayer, or once new DLC (if new DLC) appears for Factorio. Even simple QOL such as Mining Patch Planner, PUMP, Factory planner or Resource Monitor, while doing nothing except for adding some UI elements that add information that player already can have or do what player already can [copy pasting outposts for example], will disable achievements.

Yeah I get that it’s a waste of money either way if you don’t enjoy it it’s just that personally I don’t see a lot of games with questionable enjoyment and also I was really talking more about games you said you bought on sale and didn’t play.

I didn't say this in this topic, maybe confusing people.
There was a time I bought hundreds of trash games on sale and now regret it to the point where I rarely buy anything on sale unless it happens to be a game I was planning to buy and play at that specific time.

But even with games I bought at full price, I more often than not drop them before finishing them, which I do find a bit sad as well (not as a waste of money because more often than not I got enough enjoyment out of them to be happy with my purchase though).

And there's that stereotype that the quality of a game tends to go down as you play, through devs focusing on the early game so as to better hook people into getting the game.

Factorio is sort of unusual in having polish on the late and very late game too.

Considering the 'grind' of the burner-phase, I'd say the early game does more to weed out the un-dedicated early. Perhaps even early enough for a refund.

I always skip (or greatly reduce with mods) the 'burner-phase'.
And in 2.0, I have been meaning to launch a rocket, but still have not.
Initially trouble-shooting mods (my own and others) took a lot of my time.

The biggest issues that keeps me from playing the game is mostly UI issues that have never been fixed to my satisfaction (and some added), and some of the changes made to the game that make things more difficult or just tedious.

For example:
Using the Alt key to set a function is the dumbest thing ever devised. (Posts to the Developers about this when the game was first released were deleted. As dumb as using shift or control to do the same thing. And has made it difficult at times to use some Alt key combinations in the keybind settings.)

I guess playing the game has just been too tedious to play, or maybe, I am just loosing interest.

I keep going back to COI lately. Looks like I played that game more in the last year than anything else.
Interesting discussion.

I was very excited about SA at first, but after putting plenty hrs into it, and the 6th re-start my excitement is waning fast. Factorio for me, is this comfy, relaxing place I can escape to, put on my own music and have fun. SA is not a comfortable place for me, I keep getting frustrated and re-starting. It's not fun anymore, it's become mind bending tedium, at least for me.

My dilemma now, is that all the nice toys and machines you get from space science research, has now spoiled me, I want it all on Nauvis, WITHOUT having to go to space. Thus I have to commit the ultimate Factorio sin; Editor...

And no, I have not been to Gleba, my fifth SA map progress is just short of making the trip there. But I just know I'll hate the spoilage, just like I hate having to manage heating pipes.
