Pasta mess would be fine up to your first rocket launch at least since it does teach you quite a bit.

After that, if you want a basic but robust introduction to main bus, there is a guide in the guides section here on steam, a bit old but still completely valid and well made.

Just go look in the guides, and sort it by top rated of all time...

it doesn't have to be anything real complex.

don't look at guides at first. that will spoil you everything about this game.
only do it when you really feel stucked.

there is a exploration part of this game.

basically, yes. a bus can help with organization, but isn't always the right way to go.

On my end at least, the main bus approach (one I came up with at the time, so not as polished as what you can find around) helped me a lot to learn about things like throughput, ratios and what kind of scale you would usually get at different stages of the game.
These informations were incredibly helpful to transition out of that main bus as well.

But if you blindly follow a guide without trying to understand why things are laid in a particular way, it won't be all that helpful, no matter how good the design in question is (main bus or others).

Embrace the spaghetti.

All a bus does is straighten out your spaghetti supply into nice segregated strips of materials. Yellow under grounds reach 4 tiles so keep your groups of belts in multiples of 2-4. How much you need of each you can determine by counting full belts of each material in your spaghetti base.

Then just straighten out the belts and run them down the middle.

If you feel a bit frustrated with the bugs I can recommend running a game with either bugs disabled or set to peaceful so you can get comfortable with the controls and how to build a factory like you want without that time pressure.
But once you feel you have reasonably good control I also recommend that you have some biters to help you keep the fun going (I find the game often can become a little bit more boring without that external pressure pushing me to keep my military production going and such).

But you know what's more interesting to you, and it might be that you're more interested in making a "megabase" without biters. Only you know that.

Alternatively, if you just want a slightly more relaxed start, but with the normal full bug experience once you are established, select a larger starting area (e.g. 200%).

oh that is what larger start area means. less bug attacks right away?

I forgot about larger starting area. Yeah, that's a very good option too. I usually pump that one up a bit. Good shout, Khagan

Larger starting area means that you have a larger zone where there are no biters to begin with. They can still expand into it, but only after you've gotten the chunk with some biter base in it become active (through pollution going into it or through radar scans, or through you scouting it, or such)
