Captive biter spawner
this thing change the whole story between engineer and biters.

when you first crash landing in Nauvis. Biters are enemies, threats. you fight them for survival.

But after a certain point of the game. after engineer got the captive biter spawner. the relationship between biters changed.

engineer need biter egg for more productivity for more advanced researching. he found that biter eggs interactive with quantum processor alone with materials from far edge of solar system and gets him new science explorations.

biters accelerates their evolution by consuming pollution.
now engineer accelerates his science research by releasing the biter's power. this is the engineer's evolution.

the two race now actually helping each other to survive in the whole planet system.
biters are friends now.

The bitters survived just fine on their own before we crash-landed on the planet, started to pollute and exploit it, went on to kill them in mass and even destroy their homes.
It's more like we are taking an extra step by exploiting even their unborn eggs as resources, stealing them from their homes.

From how I see it at least it doesn't seem to be about helping each others.
Biters
;P
EDIT: probably also "en masse"

No clue why I keep putting two t on that word, probably a lost cause at this point just like with Mario's enemy that I invariably call Boswer.
I refuse to use french words in english, it just feels wrong for some reason (even if we use plenty of english words in french as well).
I'm not sure us enslaving their spawners, and stealing their eggs for weird science experiments counts as us being their friends.

before you get there maybe millions of years they only have small pity bugs and worms easily taken down by handguns.

after you being there. they got some really big guys you need to respect.
more importantly you give them a meaning of life. a direction of evolution.

what could a biters do when there are no factories to bite?

I mean, there's the perfectly cromulent phrase "in droves" ;P

But yeah, I can see the difficulty in changing such pathways. But it's impossible if one doesn't know of it to begin with. Hopefully my comment wasn't perceived too negatively.

They were "small pity bugs that can be easily taken down by handguns" because they had no need to fight anyone who was capable of making and using handguns. There are no other creatures on Nauvis besides the fish, and I don't think those were a problem enough for the biters to grow big and strong.

The meaning of life of nearly every living thing is to eat, sleep, reproduce repeat, like one of those graphics on a kids t-shirt (except kids Minecraft instead of reproduce). Biters only bite the factory because the pollution is aggravating them, once the pollution stops, their attacks stop.
