what does engineer's home planet looks like?
he crashed and stranded in Nauvis right? so he must got a home town somewhere.

imagine a world where everyone can hand craft rocket silos.

He is a remote controlled robot/android made specifically with the purpose of space exploration and planet colonization.

that will not require him eating fish to get health.

The fact that in the opening the engineer specifically says in text that the ship is a drop pod and that he hopes that the others survived but he guesses that's not the case. Might be an indication that the actual home planet he escaped from IS the shattered planet.

Nothing in the game that tells us, so your guess is as good as anybody else's. Let your imagination run wild.

So what you want to tell me that if you get your face melted by acid eating fish will heal you?

Obviously it's an advanced model that has ability to repurpose organic material into new body parts. So probably not a pure mechanical robot.

Doesn't really work. He is so technologically advanced that he can build space ships out of scraps, civilization that he is from would have bases and stations on and around planets in this system. He is definitely not from this system.

Well, if crafting a spidertron requires fish then I guess it can make sense.

Of course not, since the engineer is a school of fish in an exosuit fish tank. When taking damage it's some fish that die, meaning that using fish is replenishing the number of fish in the exosuit. That's also why the health goes up by itself once you don't take damage, the fish are breeding back to the right number.

I, for one, welcome our new fish overlords.

Maybe the planet shattered under the weight of too many stacks of too many things in everyone's pockets.

The shattered planet isn't in the system. It's past the system edge, and IIRC somewhere in the game describes it as interstellar travel.

If a lone guy from civilization can just build a ship to travel there out of stick and stones, the whole civilization would consider this akin to a trip to groceries. They would've already settled all the planets or at least made bases there.

A lone guy who was scouting the system and crash landed with enough of the database and tools intact to build everything from the ground up again. It's not Joe from Accounting who crash landed on that planet.

That's not the point.
