Where did the fusion reactor go?
It’s been a few years since I’ve played, but I can’t seem to find where the research for the fusion reactor is? (It’s the much smaller one that goes in the armor slots)
I remember it looking like the back to the future “Mr. Fusion” device.

They moved it pretty far back in the tech tree. However, there's now a mini nuclear reactor for your armor to bridge the gap:

It's called the Portable Fission Reactor now. The Fusion Reactor is a better version of it, unlocked way later in the technology tree.

Yeah, all of that stuff is at Aquillo, the final planet. You can search the tech tree and you'll find it.

So it was removed from the game and moved to the DLC?

More like the original Portable Fusion Reactor was reskinned and renamed to Portable Fission Reactor, and a new item with the name Portable Fusion Reactor was created for the DLC.

No. Portable Fission Reactor.

No. The "fusion reactor" in the DLC has nothing to do with the (thing formerly known as) fusion reactor in the base game.

No, the portable Fission reactor is something else.

I only have the DLC now so I don't know if it is removed from the base game, but I wouldn't have thought so. A lot of the things in Space Age are still available for Vanilla, but I don't know. The fission and the fusion reactor are, however, not the same thing.

https://wiki.factorio.com/Portable_fission_reactor implies it was changed with 2.0.7, for both base game and the expansion. So 2.0 base game does indeed not have portable fusion reactor any longer, but it has the effectively same item that just goes by the name "portable fission reactor" instead.

They talk about it in this FFF.
The one with the new graphic has the same stats as the old one with the old graphic. The new one with the old graphic is the improved end-game version.

You do have the base game. Turn off the 3 DLC mods (Space age, Elevated rails, and Quality) and you have the base game. The only difference between the non-DLC base game and the DLC base game is that the DLC version can load those 3 mods and the non-DLC version cannot.

Before they patched it, it was actually possible to load those mods in the non-DLC game, and it was surprisingly easy at that. They fixed that, and I won't say when, so don't bother trying it now. The point is that having the DLC does not mean not having the 'base game'. Anything you see in your non-SA base game will match, exactly, anything I'd see in the non-DLC base game.

Thank you. That helps a lot.
