Quality tier unlock
Hello.

I've seen on different sources that to get rarer quality you need to visit others planets in space age. I'm confused as i've not seen anything in the game about that. Several people said that in order to be able to get rare, you need to visit one planet, for epic visit 2 planets , legendary 3 planets.

Did i understand that right ? Is that still in the game ?

I want to work on legendary quality but i've only been to Fulgora, so i would like to know to not waste my time if it's locked behind visiting planet.

Uncommon and rare are unlocked on nauvis, epic on gleba and legendary on aquilo. You don't have to visit other plantes than these to unlock that quality-steps.

Ok, you have to visit all other planets to get to aquilo...

From what I remember you can get rare on the starting planet. For epic and legendary you need to research them first and those researches require science from other planets.

Thanks for the quick response.
It is, indeed, locked behind different planets. Not by count, but by function.
The tier-1 and tier-2 quality modules, the quality system itself, and both uncommon and rare quality are unlocked on Nauvis. The tier-2 module requires Space Science (white), while the tier-1 only requires green science. The tier-3 modules are unlocked with Fulgora's science. The epic quality is unlocked with Gleba's science. The final, legendary quality is unlocked with Aquilo's science, and Aquilo itself is locked behind all the other 3 new planets.

So, already on Fulgora, you can unlock the tier-3 modules. If you go to Gleba next you can also get the epic quality. You already can get, if you haven't, the tier-2 modules and up to rare quality. Last you'll have to use Vulcanus to unlock Aquilo so you can get legendary quality. All of which helps make getting the promethium chunks a bit easier.
Theoretically it is not required to use higher tier modules for quality, so you can get legendary products with tier 1 modules. But it's a pain in the a**. I would not start using quality until you have unlocked tier 2 or even tier 3 modules. And you should start building quality with there modules themselves.

With nothing but red, green, blue and white science tier-2 modules and rare quality are available. Total investment, if modules themselves are already unlocked, is 500 white, 500 blue, 1000 red and 1000 green. All of which ought to be quick for a game already on Fulgora. The tier-3 module is only another 2000 red, green, blue, white and whatever color you want to call Fulgora's science. Fuchsia maybe? Pink? Anyway, with 3000 science you can have tier-3 modules making your rare stuff.

You can do small scale quality work early. The main bottleneck is what you would do with all the non-quality stuff you make in the process. Which is why I usually wait until I get to Fulgora to do a lot of it, for recyclers. But you can stick quality modules into machines for things you already intend make and siphon off quality results.
Just check the tech and what science packs you need to unlock. Legendary does indeed need Aquillo.

I just put off quality altogether untli I had that and now I'm doing it, and enjoying it in a perverse sort of way. Legendary stuff is completely over powered. I got one legendary electromagnetic plant to saturate a stacked red belt with green circuits.... so that's more than 240 a second. One single plant. Jeebers.
If you are on Fulgora its really easy to set up/recycle/reproduce quality up to rare. There are lots of places that rare quality items can be a great improvement over standard quality (like on a space platform).
