Krastorio 2.0 plans
Hello @everyone, it's been a while! I would like to take a moment to discuss my plan for Factorio 2.0.
First off, a rapid-fire Q&A:
Will Krastorio support 2.0? YES.
Will Krastorio support Elevated Rails? YES.
Will Krastorio support Quality? NO.
Will Krastorio support Space Age? NO.
Will Krastorio 2.0 be available on the 21st? NO.
And:
Why no space age support?
Space Age has a lot of content that overlaps and conflicts with Krastorio. These can potentially be worked around, but it will be a very long and tedious process. Having played Space Age myself, I do not feel that Krastorio will fit in well without major and invasive changes, so it is not a high priority. Additionally, Krastorio does not support Quality, which is a hard dependency of Space Age.
Space Age is technically an overhaul mod, and players with the DLC can still play the base game. Krastorio, for the foreseeable future, will be a "vanilla" mod, not an "expansion" mod.
I haven't tried, so maybe I should just do that rather than posting.
So Space Age is really dependent on Quality
The Quality mod is a hard requirement, the quality system is not.
Of course, the Quality mod, and the recycler, can also be added to a base game, or any mod which does not have it as a hard conflict. Though adding it to a game with mods which didn't think about it when they 'upgraded' could have unexpected results.
The devs themselves didn't really try to do it ... they did break out Quality as its own mod, but Space Age builds on Quality and requires it as a dependency.
