Need help with map grid alignment in blueprints
Hello everyone!
I want to allign railway platforms with substation grid
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403301587
I choose relevant connection (don't know exact translatin in English)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403302587
But when i drag this blueprint my i get two substations close to each other
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403302639
If i shrink the net of blueprint like this
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403323899
i get double substations too
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403323486
The result i want to get is like this
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403321602

Pretty sure you can't enable both absolute and relative at the same time. Absolute will basically work like relative with the additional condition that it "snaps" to given positions that are based on the 0,0 coordinate. So for example a blueprint with absolute that's set up so one corner is at 0,0 and the opposite corner is at 10,10 will always have the corner at some multiple of 10. So if you hold it in your hand and hover over anywhere in the area 230,210 to 240,220 it will put the blueprint with the corners at those two coordinates. So holding your mouse at 234,215 will put the corners at 230,210 and 240,220.

Another example could be a blueprint with absolute that has one corner at -5,0 and the other at 10,50: this will have the first coordinate always be 15 from the last one (so 10, 25, 40, 55, 70, and so on. Or -20, -35, and so on) and the second coordinate will always be a multiple of 50 ( so 50, 100, 150, 0, -50, -100, -150, and so on).

With relative you can start the tiling anywhere you want. With absolute you're always locked to specific placement.

Yep, you are right. I was reading on the forums where someone was describing a feature request to support both absolute and relative at the same time (not implemented).

I found this video that shows off the differences between the absolute (snaps to global grid), and relative (the run/copy style) snap options. It also covers OP's case with the duplicate substations, so win-win :)
