Krastorio 2.0 plans
Hello @everyone, it's been a while! I would like to take a moment to discuss my plan for Factorio 2.0.
First off, a rapid-fire Q&A:
Will Krastorio support 2.0? YES.
Will Krastorio support Elevated Rails? YES.
Will Krastorio support Quality? NO.
Will Krastorio support Space Age? NO.
Will Krastorio 2.0 be available on the 21st? NO.
Krastorio 2.0
I originally planned on having Krastorio 2.0 available on day one, but Wube work has taken all of my programming energy for the past several months so I have run out of time.
Additionally, I have had to spend enormous amounts of time cleaning up the prototype code to be more maintainable. Krastorio currently functions on 2.0, but it has not received any playtesting nor balance passes. I plan on doing a public beta test before releasing it to everyone.
There are some balance changes I intend on making to Krastorio 2.0 as well. These include, but are not limited to:
Removal of biter creep tiles; biomass will become loot that is dropped by biter nests only when manually killed by the player. Using the creep virus will stop this.
Substation MK2 (renamed to Superior Substation) will have built-in lighting.
Re-introduction of the lithium electronic components recipe.
Making radioactivity somewhat less obnoxious.
There are always more tweaks to do, but these are the major ones.
Why no quality support?
Krastorio's primary appeal is adding more complexity and higher tiers of machines. The K2 advanced machines are already so overpowered that adding quality into the mix would make them entirely redundant. It would completely compromise the balance of the mod.
Why no space age support?
Space Age has a lot of content that overlaps and conflicts with Krastorio. These can potentially be worked around, but it will be a very long and tedious process. Having played Space Age myself, I do not feel that Krastorio will fit in well without major and invasive changes, so it is not a high priority. Additionally, Krastorio does not support Quality, which is a hard dependency of Space Age.
Space Age is technically an overhaul mod, and players with the DLC can still play the base game. Krastorio, for the foreseeable future, will be a "vanilla" mod, not an "expansion" mod.
Thank you
Thanks for your continued support over the years! It is my honor and privilege to maintain this mod, and I hope you all have fun with Space Age in the coming weeks!
