Find the mod you want, which gives you cliff explosives as easy as you want. Load that mod, get the cliff explosives, clean up the cliffs which are in your way.
Save the game, remove the mod, reload the game and continue playing.
Once you uninstall the mod you'll be back to where you were relative to achievements - if you were getting them on Steam, you will again, and if you weren't you sill won't. The cliffs on the rest of the map will still be there. Everyone will see you beautiful designs and think you either got real luck with the cliffs or you are super brilliant and built around them perfectly.
If, later, they get in the way again, reload the mod, rinse and repeat.
Now you can spend less time in the forum "venting" and spend more time on Nauvis to display your wonderful skills and high-level planning abilities. Screenshots shared with your friends can even prove how smart you are. (But, they probably already know that. Right?)
Then disable then in world generation, why so much drama for a simple option you can simply disable?
As per par, not on point at all. Sarcasm is less entertaining when dripping from fangs.
You should love cliffs if they make the game more fun or the challenges more interesting.
You should turn off cliffs if they don't.
You should like the changes in 2.0 if they make cliffs better for you than they were.
If you like cliffs, and don't like the changes in 2.0, then you have a problem.
I have half a problem. I liked the cliffs in 1.1, even though they were only sometimes useful for defense. I like the improvements in their placement in 2.0. Much better for defense and still look nice on the map - mostly. I don't like how the game generates them now. There seems to be less control available to fine-tune them in the map gen settings. I don't know how it works 'under the hood' but they are now more closely coupled with the rest of the map gen settings than they were in 1.1 and setting an "interesting" map is much more difficult.
I still like the cliffs and have no more, or less, desire to remove them in 2.0 than I did 1.1.
So, you start a new game, literally on world creation, un-tick cliffs. But, you forgot, even though you hate cliffs with a passion. (I've done that too)
Then, 2 mins into your new game, oh crap, cliffs, I forgot to turn them off, restart.
No, you proceed to play with your cliffs for 25 hours like a dumbo, then you get all salty and come to rant on the forums.
Suffer son, your bad.
Y'know on the subject on nukes, i was looking through the ingame pedia and i noticed that irradiated land doesn't absorb pollution, so if you're concerned about pollution maybe don't fire nukes all over.
But to be fair at that point it no longer matters.
