Since the Switch Version is now announced, do we get the Controller Support for the PC Version too or its just for the Switch?

What about Steam Deck and PC controller support?

I actually started working on the port for Nintendo Switch before the Steam Deck was even announced, so first I will finish what I started. Currently the controller support is optimized for and built around the Nintendo Switch system, the Joy-Con™ controllers, and their features. There's still more work to be done for generic controller support, such as dealing with the many controller types, handling mods, ability to switch between "keyboard and mouse" and "controller" modes, etc. Also I want to make it a priority to focus on the initial feedback coming from Nintendo Switch players, to make sure any bigger issues are ironed out quickly. So generic controller support is planned, just that like most things, it will take some time.
So yes. Controller support for pc is coming at some point.

Unfortunatley its just a "maybe later". The Joy Cons are not special that a xinput or DS4/5 could not do the same. :(

But thanks for the quick response.

They are, though. Ignoring that sucks. The best supported gamepad on the PC is the Xbox One controller and it lacks those extended features that the Joy Cons, the newer Dual Shocks, and the Steam Controller have. It's not so straightforward to take advantage of those features the way it is to read the buttons and the sticks. Steam's controller API tries to help with that, but it's another big ass abstraction layer that needs a lot of fiddling to use and imo doesn't solve the problem it was meant to solve.

So glad to hear about gamepad support, and its wonderful so many PC devs are acknowledging how many people play with controllers :)

It is, its just 'planned' and its not clear thats behind "generic"

Generic means it's "any old" gamepad. And difference between "planned" and "later or never" is absolutely obvious. Are you being malicious on purpose or are you just perpetually depressed?

and with "any old" you dump xinput and more or less no widly used gamepads work. and yes im depressed by devs that don't care about gamepad support on pc and that announcement is nothing else than a maybe later or never.

If you choose to reject reality and replace it with your own, please, do not participate in public discussions. It's impossible to have one with if you decide to redefine words to fit your personal gripes.

You are using a pc. It is literally possible to map any input device to any input you want. Years ago I actually made a setup for half-life 2 where you used a wii guitar to aim and shoot and a ps3 dance mat to move for a LAN party. It was hilarious and surprisingly playable.
Is there any news on this? I've been watching the Factorio news and haven't seen anything

This game is so good that you need to make your own controller support for it from scratch. The massive money they're making is going somewhere, but no one knows where. Lol.
