If you start again, do you really need a tutorial? Anyway I don't remember any tutorial missions to be "hard", in the one where you have biters you can also build turrets, just place a couple and forget about biters. You can also completely exterminate them from the map, the map is very small

I guess you could try looking for tutorials on Youtube to learn the gameplay basics like walking which would have been covered in the tutorial?

However, to be completely honest I would suggest that you request a refund if you are unable to beat the tutorial.

You can always just start a new game and then if you get stumped on anything, most youtube tutorials are segmented or in separate videos, so it's easy to only get the info you need without accidentally seeing things you want to figure out for yourself

Just skip the tutorial, and start a new game. Turn off the enemies. You dont really need a tutorial. Without enemies, and you can just figure out as you go. Once you figure it out then start over and see if you can do it all better with enemies

I had trouble with that tutorial too -- as a new player, I was still trying to familiarize myself with the UI and all the objects I could craft (reading tooltips and such).. and all those tabs in the crafting screen.. and trying to figure out what was already built, etc

just skipped it, and switched over to freeplay and realized the tutorial is kind of a lie ..
in freeplay you have all the time in the world to get started before you pull bugs with pollution, where the tutorial has them attacking right from the beginning of the scenario.

The 'tutorial' game mode was originally meant to be a full blown story campaign, but that never took off - mainly because of work involved and looming deadlines. Rather than ax it, the developers left it in a sort of inconclusive state and dubbed it a 'tutorial' of sorts.

However, then they totally discarded refining the actual tutorial parts in it and went and added much more comprehensive instructional videos and sand-boxed interactive tutorials to the main 'free play' mode instead. And those are what they actually want new players to rely on. Not the legacy 'tutorial' mode, which is considered really poorly balanced to boot by most.

New players of course are getting a big bag of mixed signals out of this, which is the worst possible situation you could have.

Bottom line: devs, if any of you are reading this - just remove (or at least hide) that old thing. No new players will want it. It's the best solution moving forward. Some sacrifices are worth making.

Didn't know the story behind this demo / tutorial, but can't agree with your final statement. I started playing Factorio as it offered this free demo scenarios, and after around 6(?)h of playing it through, I was totally sold, I would prob pay like up to 100eur for the game at that point:D And since most games usually don't raise my interest, I would naver have bought Factorio if it didn't offer that demo in the first place. Oh how different my life would be now, with house cleaned, and dinner cooked, projects at work finished, but who has time for that if FACTORY MUST GROW:)
