New game +
This game needs a new game + where you can start with nanobots or something. After 1500 hours, try imagining making some huge coal steel smelter-arrangements by hand for the 1000th time. Zesus Crist the BOREDOM. Make early game less tedious!

Mods are exactly for those times where you want to change something, and there are plenty of quick start mods for you to pick from.

That's true and I usually play with mods but sometimes I just want to play completely vanilla.. Out of 1700 hours maybe 1650 are with tons of mods..

I am nothing but grateful, but there is always improvements to make

I don't mind setting up a starter factory. I've done it so many times its easy. I've even got a blue print book I made that has bare minimums blue prints and lab set ups that let me rush particular tech (like construction robots). My chains are all automated so once I have them set up I can go lay out another smelting column while the factory techs me up.

I have to have something to do while the automated parts do their jobs after all.

"I aCtUaLlY PrEfEr EaRlYGaM€". Lord knows I restart many games before getting to the rocket enough that I BETTER like early-game. But having to place all those belts and power poles and inserters by hand make me cry.

So one of the FEW mods I use is Construction Drones. Personal, ground-based construction bots. Being ground-based they have pathfinding issues, which makes building dense complex factories a sort of puzzle to figure out what order to place items for the drones (refineries). They are cheap to make, so you can replace any destroyed by biters if you use them near nests. They stack to 10, so you likely won't want to build and hold several hundred, so they won't insta-swarm build a large construction project. Being dirt-cheap and requiring no power, they may feel a bit cheaty. But as they assist me with clearing forests/rocks, placing my rail network, and early-game setups, I don't mind.

If you want something that costs resources, try Nanobots mod. A bit more high-maintenance and resource cost, but some may call it "balanced" that way.

Go open freeplay.lua and add whatever belts, robots and spidertrons you want.

If you prefer early game give the full angel+bobs pack a go.

I like the Construction Drones. I use them sometimes, and they have a bit further range than the normal bots.

I am not a fan of the Nanobots. Have had issues with that mod. I no longer use it.

I like Ingos Advanced Start the best. You can edit one of the files and add or remove any items you want to start with.

Yeah early game is fine with nano bots or construction drones. I just wish they were added to vanilla after you've launched your first rocket :D
It's called Rocket Rush and it's right there in the new game menu. Try all the game types!

To be honest late game stinks... when everything is automated there is no fun in placing objects manually... blueprints take over and no fun happens... you just spam blueprints in the end til u have enough.

Early game stinks because manual mining....

Mid game is where its at...

Why? TRAIN STATIONS GALORE.... XD

In the OP you mention an example of starting out with bots.

I don't see the difference in choosing a setting in the game or adding a mod which accomplishes the exact same thing?

I know this settings is not currently in the game, but IMO, it doesn't have to be either, because of the reason mentioned above.

lol im new to factorio i ve been playing the early game for over 12 hours now.
I think late game is boring for me or I am just intimated for not knowing what to do
Salmon Snake Sep 23, 2021 @ 5:25am
I have almost 5000 hours in the game, and I always like the early game, it lets me plan out the factory and stuff. And you dont play "early" game that often to complain about it.
