Demolisher worms seem really boring
Everything I saw about them before playing the game, and even WHILE playing the game via the title screen demo, shows you fighting them on foot. In reality, this is impossible, because even the small ones have like 2000/sec regen and you can't outpace that with handheld weapons. I saw that people were shooting them with tank rounds since they pierce, but apparently they don't pierce demolishers anymore so that strategy doesn't work. Oh, they have 10% resistance to poison! but poison capsules do such low damage they can't outpace the regen even with like 10 capsules hitting 10 segments each.

Instead, we're forced to use boring turret spam, completely invalidating 90% of the demolishers' mechanics.

I agree. Clumping 100 gun turrets with red ammo in one spot usually does the trick. I also wish they were more aggressive and dangerous.

Agreed. Demolishers seem kind of half baked or at least, in need of major tweaking. Unless I'm missing something, no need to do anything else but slap turret spam and insert ammo.
for the small guys if you manage to kite them long enought then you can kill them with poison. As soon as you have tesla towers you just rip the small and medium worm in 2 the big worms i dont know they have so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hp there probably only railgun spam works.......

All I did was: Get in a tank, drive behind them, shoot and kill them before they can turn around. Normal tank ammo used.
And ye the regen and resistance (limiting the type of weapons that can be used) is boring.
The most boring thing about the worms I think is: You need to kill 1 to unlock some ore then you don't actually need to kill anymore.

well the starting coal patch starts to run out pretty fast if you plan to do do a big factory and the ressources start to get insane when you reach middle worm territory....

Lots of things don't work against the worms. I've been enjoying working around them so far, and sparring with them, but I guess it'll have to be turrets soon.

Poison deals surprisingly high damage if you stack it up. I kill small worms with around 60 poison capsules. You just have to hold the right mouse button so you throw them non stop in one spot and kite the worm so that it moves in a circle inside the poison cloud so it damages all segments. Having at least one exoskeleton helps with kiting.

The normal ammo tank strategy doesn't work anymore. It doesn't pierce, so you get one hit per shot, which won't kill, obviously.

Ah, I tried poison but it didn't seem to do much. I wasn't spamming it though, that's probably why. I didn't expect the poison clouds to stack, for some reason.

It does work, I just tested it. It takers me 16 shots to kill a small demolisher. (I think I could probably get ~25-30 shots in before it turns around, maybe more if I try to circle the other way but hard with terrain)
On a medium I can get ~30 shots in before tank gets destroyed, probably need ~50 shots to kill it so would have to get some more research. It is just a dps check.

*I* just tested it. The demolisher was in the optimal position, even, with its tail in basically a straight line. Shooting cannon shells at it resulted in the hp bar showing up for half a second and then disappearing. The shell also exploded on impact, which means it was *not* piercing. I was able to shoot like 10 shots before the demolisher turned around and killed me, even if I tried to run away with the tank. So, I'm guessing you've got a high tech level which made your shots way stronger than normal, and a lot of firing speed upgrades too.... which means you were probably just killing it via pure DPS.

I used the "Cannon Shell" ammo, uranium ammo is twice as good but you can't get uranium there so would have to transport the ammo.
Yes I have some points in physical damage, level 9. 1k+5.2k physical damage per shot. + maxed out shooting speed (level 6).
This is 520% damage from tank, each new upgrade gives +100% so a 20% increase of my current damage (so wouldn't be hard to get enough to kill medium.

I think another option is likely to build some structures to aggro it and then when it goes for the structures attack it from behind with tank.

I shot them in the face with nukes... granted, I overprepared on Nauvis so I just shipped a lot of spare U-238...

my friend overcomplicated a solution, and I was like, "why not just make it eat a nuke." God I'm smart.

Wrong. While I lean to simple turrets for small demos, I still need to kite them to the defence field. If I do so while spamming the capsules all the time (will probably cost about a 100 to get a demolisher across an entire territory), they reach my trap at around half health.

The turret trap finishes them off, but I COULD easily just continue kiting and it would die.

Why take unnecessary risks? With turrets? Kiting?

There is a non-nuke method to kill small demolishers in a single or few hits.

It starts with moving behind the small demolishers (giving them no time to turn around) in a tank armed with non-explosive uranium cannon ammo. Then, hitting the small demolishers from behind.

The trick is to hit small demolishers with so much damage that the HP size, Resistance, and Regen do nothing.

I don't know if this method works against the medium or larger demolishers.
