Upgrade to Space Age mid Playthrough?
I'm still 99% blind on the content of Space Age. I would prefer to start a new vanilla 2.0 factory and buy the expansion when I start launching rockets. Keeps me from throwing away my money if I stall out and don't play up to that point again.

Is upgrading to space age at that point an option?
Is there pre- rocket launch content that I'd be missing out on if I start a vanilla game?

Well one of the things is research was changed with the DLC. For one rocket comes lot sooner. While you CAN add it later.. They suggest starting new game with it. Ive never launched a rocket before.. And so far have 2 silos and launched 50 rockets or more. Getting to space is easy part.. From there it gets bit tougher :-)

So while can add it later due to the changes in research and such its suggested to start over. But you can add and continue if wish.

Reworked pre-rocket tech tree? Sold

Appreciate the response. If anyone does have more to say on the matter feel free to add in case some other soul comes across it with the same question.

There's things like if you have artillery turrets set up to defend your land, you won't be able to produce any ammo until you get to Vulcanus. You wouldn't be able to research spidertron until reaching Gleba. But if it's already crafted it won't be taken away... They also can't be crafted with just materials from Nauvis.

Isnt there a "cleanup" option when add dlc to existing where it removes research and items shouldnt have?
