So how is everyone dealing with biters on Nauvis?
Do you surround your base in flamethrowers, a wall and make the biters pay for it, laser turrets? I'm sick of the constant attacks.

1: Peaceful mode
2: Mods

Mainly 2, I haven't played pure vanilla factorio in years.
I would like to play with mods, but I wanted to try the default experience before doing that. Peaceful might disable everything on the other planets too though. I guess I'm just going to set up a giant wall with laser turrets, since liquid distance is a thing now.

I kill their nests. No biter attacks.

I usually prefer just taking out the bases once they get too close to the pollution cloud so I nearly never get attacked.

Also incase you aren't aware, you can throw grenades, poison capsules, etc, when you are inside a vehicle such as a car.
I've been going for the nests too, but when you're on another planet, that kinda makes it difficult. I couldn't concentrate for a while on gleba because of it. I had to remote roboport, power, radar kill the nests after they made new nests.

For reference, I launched my first rockets before ever building a single wall or dedicated defensive setup in my current save. A few manually filled turrets at key areas they'd attack first and a proactive approach to dealing with the nests served me fine on default settings. I eventually had robots build a conveyor fed turret and wall setup with some flamers when the bigger stuff started to spawn.

In the early game, I usually take the occasional break from building things to grab a fistful of turrets, grenades, and set off to turret push and machinegun any nest that looks at my pollution funny.

Once I get a car, I sometimes set up a wall of 4 or 5 turrets a bit away from the nest I'm going to assault and then zip around shooting the nests and grenading bugs while going behind my turrets if I need to repair.

Once I get a tank, I slap a pair of sexy legs and power into its equipment slot and and go wreck house.

I absolutely was not aware, I wish I was, that would've been so much easier. I had noticed the remote train driving too. I'm literally just driving around blowing stuff up right now.

I just killed all nests around to have peace. No visible nest remaining also prevented enemy expansion. Killed them with machine gun and turret support.

i steady control my pollution cloud.. then i tech up and take out the few biter nests ... i tech fast to better Miners and steel furnances because they are more efficient and will produce a little bit slower Pollution.

i tech to solar, military and Energy Modules. ENergy modules will recude the pollution and the t1 Modules can lower the miners bei 80%.

then i put all modules in the miner first, because thats polluton 10 -> 2 per Miner.. thats HUGE.. at this point, the cloud is shrinking and no mre Biters will attack because my base pollution footprint does not grow.

with this time, i can tech even further to robots and establish a solar-field. at this Point i have plenty energy to support a Wall with Lazer turrets... maybe even NUklear Power.. and with energy comes MASS lazer turrets that will handle most of the stuff and also RObots..

then i can switch out the modules and put in speed and Produktivity or Quality (also i put asap quality in miner, assemblers and solar + batterys because the effects are worth it.

I shut expansion off. The I just watch my pollution and expand when I need to.

Some other playthrough I'll make biters more of an issue. Deathworlds are not my thing though, not that kind of player and don't find it fun.

well tanks with good ammo and bots are really good the defenders and destroyes work great.....

I have a wall around my immediate base lined with uranium ammo turrets with phys damage projectile researched high. Then I have a very large wall lined with the same turrets far outside my main base and have cleared them from inside. I started putting laser turrets in places they attacked but usually I'm fine if I take out a tank once in a while and clear the nests that get close to the walls. I've been contemplating what I will do once I start going to other planets for extended periods of time because its too large of an area to line with roboports and construction robots so I think I am going to opt with placing solar powered radar dishes revealing the entire area inside, and then setting up tanks with everything from combat capabilities to mobile construction platforms. Now that tanks have grids and can be remote operated in radar covered terrain I think it will probably be the cheapest and most effective option. But even at 97% evolution they are not too bad if I stay on top of them. The bad part is tanks randomly get stuck on anything and evaporate so I will likely have to set up a fleet of tanks beforehand. But I think having some tanks with personal roboports, repair packs and spare parts will be enough even if they break through. You can mark up new builds remotely and then have them build them while you are on another planet.

Expand until I find chokepoints created by lakes. Also building the outer wall out so far that pollution doesn't reach nests so they don't attack. Roamers get stopped by the walls and turrets so they don't repopulate the cleared areas. Pretty much I just make a massive safe zone.

Turret creep and grenades is my main way to take them out.

Get to a spot closest to the nest where they do not attack. Lay down a wall of like 4- 8 turrets and use "z" to fill the turrets, then move forward 2-4 spaces and repeat, I usually have 2 walls of turrets and remove the back 3rd wall of turrets after you get 2 in front set up.

"leap frog" if you will.

Just keep inching forward like this.

Once close enough, you can toss grenades at worms and shoot nests while the turret cover you.

Just keep the creep up and you can take out big nests. I usually bring about 20 turrets and up to 1k standard ammo and maybe 150 grenades.

Just do this around the perimeter of the pollution cloud and then you only have to occasionally take out the new nests that pop up closer.

Otherwise you need to set up a fortress with turret walls all around your base but being proactive and taking out the nests is easier in the long run.

Of course it is still a good idea to have turrets on the outskirts of you base either way, especially if you are going to be taking off to space or something and might not be around to take out the new nests that pop up.
