Thanks for ruining my save game
Half of my mods are disabled with the update and the save I've spent more time than I care to admit playing is broken. Way to go, devs. Top notch.

Sounds like you should maybe just disable the expansion and switch back to the newest pre 2.0 Factorio version? Or what exactly is the problem?

Don’t help him, he doesn’t deserve it to be honest. Let the fool figure out their own problem.

A skill issue. The devs of factorio have provided you several ways to prevent that from happening despite steams best efforts to forcibly update everyone to the latest version knowing it will break mods every single time. And the devs also have given you ways to fix it when you fail to prevent it by using the beta selection and drm free versions from their website. At this point it is your fault.

Yeah.... it's not like people weren't asking questions regarding the release of 2.0 and mod interaction for WEEKS before it actually released. Not to mention the general notion of what happens to mods when ANY game goes from 1.0>2.0....

Exactly how ignorant do you have to be to both not realize this NOR look for any info on this and then complain about a problem you could've been ahead of...

technically he can't get ahead of that because he's relying on other peoples work (mods) and they're probably playing the game to see how the can update/change their mods to work with the new systems.

but yes a little bit of searching would have pointed it out and he would have downloaded a 1.1 version of the game to avoid breaking his modded game.

properties / Betas / Beta participation (drop down ) select version 1.1.110 this should get your Mods working again until they can update them to work with 2.0

Did *you* overwrite your save after loading it instead of switching to the appropriate version?

Personally when i mod i use a fixed version downloaded from the website, that way there is no risk.

This isn't helpful discussion. Teasing people who had their game broken by the devs doesn't fix anything and it's not productive discussion. Please look for things to have a better day and be happy.

Devs didn't break "their" (the player's) game. They updated the game they created and sold and that is still working. What broke is the compatibility of mods someone else created and the player downloaded for free. If they were not allowed to break mods they could never update their game. Don't punish the evs to be so friendly to mods. The devs also offer all versions of the client on their website for free if you have bought the base game there or here on steam, so there is zero reason to blame the devs. I set up my seperate 1.1 install a month ago so I can enjoy my old saves whenever I want.

The devs didn't break user's game - the user risked his experience by using mods and is now complaining about not properly handling this risk by accusing others. And you chime in doing the same which isn't helping.

If you think about it, then this stance would mean that developers would need to check every mod for compability before releasing a new version. What an impossible nonsense...

They do a good job by providing ingame support for mods, providing older builds via Steam betas, giving infos about future changes, and having beta releases.
Of course, with 2.0 & Space Age some of these things didn't happen and the sheer amount of changes would make problems with mods - that was clear to anyone just keeping an eye on the situation or being able to think a little bit ahead.
