Steam deck controls question
Hello, I have just dived into space age content and also it is my first time playing Factorio on a controller. At first the controls befuddled me and I outright thought my game is bugged because it had no hotbar (until I looked up what quick panel is). Some benefits of hotbar are still missing like assigning a resource to it and seeing how many of it you have at all times. Also the research screen navigation is really difficult.

But there is one problem that I was unable to solve at all: I don't know how to set train station to read the contents of the train to a logic network. I connected a colored wire to it, then opened the train station menu with A button and then there is logic network icon on the top right. I can toggle that button on or off but it does not open the logic network settings. Am I doing something wrong? What buttons do I need to press?

So... After randomly reading some FFF i found out where the problem is: The steam deck screen resolution is too small. The logic network button probably opens the popup for train station settings but it is off screen. So i need to update my GUI scale to lower value to see it. It is real shame however because that makes other important stuff too small and hard to see. There should be some better handling of low resolution screens to make the GUI item overlay some other stuff instead of being off screen.

factorio on steamdeck has detailed tutorials for the controls, read and learn and enjoy.

in space age sometimes when you set up wiring your trainstops you have to move the window.

just curious what issue you have navigating the research screen, you do use builtin mouse dont you?

same as on any other pc? you drag the window with your mouse?

the steamdeck comes to you pretending to be a handheld console, but actually it is a gaming laptop, with keyboard mouse and everything builtin.
this is the reason i just ignore most games controller support, steam input gives me better ways for gaming i can set up on my own and this is also the reason i appreciate immensely how well the game is adapted to the steamdeck, because i dont have to change anything. i just changed 2 things with the controls, i made double press x to function as a toggle, for those early phases of manual mining, and i made left stick press to activate debug mode, which is set to only show me a grid that you used to get by pausing the game.

Now that i think about it, i could add a mode shift or two for some specific binds eventually, but that is merely customizing an already great control setup for the deck.
