Demolishers?
SO me and a buddy just barely made our way to vulcanus the platform is barely holding together and we struggel with even scratching a demolisher what is a good way to fight them? somehow everything just tickels them we dont have nuclear yet and red ammo is the max.....

The simplest and very effective way to kill them is a stack of gun turrets and a few thousand red ammo. No need for a lot of research, I killed all small ones nearby before getting Rush to Space - so very limited damage upgrades.

Another simple and effective way is a stack of poison capsules and kiting the worm - about a hundred will kill the worm if you do not stop spamming them the entire time you're running it through the clouds.

Both of those need no imports or high research whatsoever, easily produced with materials sourced on Vulcanus itself.

After several attempts against a small demolisher, I was finally successful with a square of 100 turrets loaded with red ammo, a bunch of landmines in front, and chucking poison capsules at him the whole time. He destroyed 16 turrets before he popped.

You just need like 16 turrets and 20 piercing ammo each maybe 30 gas grenades. The gas grenades will offset it's regeneration and then some and the turrets will bring it down pretty quick but may get wiped out in the process but the gas can finish it off.

well placing them all in 1 big block is just asking the worm to bowl right trough small clusters of 9 turrets that cover each other you need like 6 blocks and most of the time only 1 block dies and 1 gets a bit singed by the lava explosion

Poison grenades alone are good enough for a small demolisher. Takes maybe ~100 and a minute of kiting. Did this multiple times.

50ish red ammo turrets are enough for a small demolisher. Did this multiple times too (with pre-Vulcanus research since I was doing Rush to Space on this save - low damage and shooting speed researches).

150ish red ammo turrets are enough for a medium demolisher. Did that twice so far.

Ya'll over-complicating ♥♥♥♥.

lmao I agree - I read their in game wiki and it says poison is their lowest resistance. I looked at the weapons and saw which one is poison. I made that weapon and used it, TADA!!!!!

People here are acting like they don't know how to read

he only attacks you if you BUILD in his area. so, as long as you don't build, you can hand mine ♥♥♥♥ in his area.
no wolfram cant be handmined........
Big and huge volcanic rocks are an option for sourcing a little initial tungsten, Big miner not required. But to get an appreciable amount in that manner would take a substantial amount of hoofing it around.

As for killing demolishers of any size, without needing damage or shooting speed research, have y'all not yet heard of that glorious invention that Vulcanus bestows? Her name is Big Bertha. A train of ~120 arty wagons (less will do for smalls/mediums), loaded with, oh, at least a dozen shells each, ye olde targeting remote, and rebind to scroll-wheel are all a body needs. No turrets sacrificed, no luring needed, no huge power draw... just radar coverage on the target, a rail coil for Bertha that's in range, and a little practice with target leading and fire discipline to not badly overspend ammunition.

jea because i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mine enough tungsten and unlock artillery before i start automating that. Turrets work better then that waste of ressources.

Simplest way, without needing shipping special materials from other planets: One tank and regular cannon shells (20-40 per worm, depending on your skills). Do research physical projectile damage as much as you can, but this will allow you to clear out all small demolishers around your base.
