I keep seeing "Space Age is way too expensive!" comments and posts floating around, help me to understand?
How so? This expansion adds space gameplay, and like 5 new planets, doesn't it? The base game only had 1 and no space! That doesn't even count all the new lifeforms, we previously only had biters, now there's new aliens on most of the planets, tons of new buildings, items, etc. It's actually several times bigger than the base game.

I dunno, I just find it weird that people think it costs too much. We had one planet and biters for how long? Now we'll have 4-5 new planets (if that mysterious 5th planet from Trupin's video is a thing) and tons of new progression, aliens, etc? Doesn't this DLC expand the game by like 3-4x?

People think "DLC" can only possibly mean "♥♥♥♥♥♥ addition that adds barely anything to the game and should cost no more than $5-$10 under any circumstancaes" and are incapable of recognizing the difference between what I just described and a full on expansion of the game that dramatically adds to and changes many things.

Oh and there's also a small contingent that DO recognize the above, but demand the dlc to have been it's own separate game of Factorio 2 for some reason, because DLC is a boogeyman and it's scary, i guess?

Have you ever seen a release without "this is too expensive" posts?
It's mostly degraded mental states along with them not being able to afford it. Plus, there's a lot of clown farming weirdos too since Factorio is #1 selling game worldwide on Steam right now.

because there are ppl out there which just "don't want to pay more then XY for an indie game"
or which are already "pissed off" by the "no discount" policy and the price beeing the same as the base game

i guess ppl which base their "price value" more on "playtime gained" don't have any problems with the price (;

I truly feel old now. I'm from the era of expansion packs that added a full game's worth of content and cost about as much as the game itself. Does nobody remember even playing the simpler games like Red Alert 2? Full new campaign, 3rd full new faction, new units to every faction, 100 new maps, etc? Then again, I suppose not! That was already about 20 years ago...

Normally I can understand the woes, you paid 100$ for a game, the ultra mega deluxe edition, and they're selling the color blue for 20-40$ at launch as "DLC." But here, this DLC is like 3-4x the content of the base game itself and came out a decade later.

That basically never happens anymore! I thought people would be happy to get an actual expansion again, and not a 4 hour long side quest for 30$. (looking at you, Starfield Shattered Space, yes, I talked to everyone, took my time doing the missions)

15$ for a single skin in games is objectively overpriced beyond any reason, yet people that obviously know nothing of what's in a particular DLC, are complaining about said DLC being 'overpriced'. These same people probably buy those 15$ skins ironically.

And then wonder why they don’t have any money to buy this lol.

idk why people so dumb. Literally
What's the point of crying HERE not even in fckng discord or their website about price WHAT ALREADY LAUNCHED IN STEAM
If u can - buy. Can't - use creamapi or don't play the game cuz u don't agree with devs. Literally can't understand

And yea, still prefer buy this than any EA game

Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge still has the fan base in PvP despite the Mental Omega mod. The Factorio dlc is not so big.

The Factorio DLC seems honestly huge, compared to the base game. It basically quadrupled the game's size.

Yes, since the RTS genre died off and EA killed C&C as a franchise, we cling to the old games from before EA took over. Kane's Wrath still has a devoted playerbase. We haven't gotten a new one in 16 years. Same happened to Mechwarrior as a franchise. Between Mechwarrior 4 and 5 was 15 years. Here's hoping we some day get a new C&C, but it's doubtful. Many C&C fans do not like the style of post Westwood era RTS that survived. A lot want to build big bases like it's Dawn of War 1, and want nothing to do with games like Dawn of War 3 and C&C 4, which both killed the franchises, as they were more of mobas than what we were used to. Starcraft II is still kicking, but no longer supported, and no SC III in sight. Stormgate was a horrendous flop, but here's hoping Tempest Rising can give us C&C fans something new to play!

yes, because none content, EVER, is worth more than ability to play the game which base game provides, i bought it, but i think the price is ridiculous, i don't think i'll ever change my mind...

It's just the steam forums. If something is unusual, the threads about it will flood the forum. Some are just Jester-Farming, some love trolling and a few are serious.

This is not how a price is determined.

Factorio DLC feels like the old expansions/addons that added a lot on top of the game and costed either as much as base, or slightly less. You guys see DLC and immediately think Bethesda's horse armour, Paradox $20 DLC slop, or EA's $10 coloured weapon. Sad reflection of todays gaming market tbh.
