How many think that it's going to be a huge pain for the player(s)...?

And once it's dead, it stays dead and its territory is your forever.

You'll have to think of a way to deal a lot of damage in a short amount of time to kill them, but I see that as an interesting puzzle to solve, and the small worms are probably not that bad at all (it is intended that you can kill them even if you go on Vulcanus butt-naked after all).

Well, it's meant to be a "natural disaster" that you can't stop without a fairly heavy investment into military, so it is definitely going to cause a lot of destruction.
The plus side is that it is just minding its own stuff, not like bitters that destroy everything they see once they come attack.

But it will take a small/huge army of turrets for a single player to take that thing down, and what will they just respawn?

They don't respawn, and it doesn't necessarily take a small army of turrets, there are other methods.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

What seems to work best are uranium tank shells. Which are pretty far into military science but when you reach vulcanus even as your first planet to go to, you should already have that researched.

Fulguras is the vacation spot tho. Nary a bug in sight and nothing but resources to exploit.
Also free electricity at night.

Good luck with that. It's like trying to put a leash on a runaway bullet train. :) keep me posted. I want to know if you managed to teach the worm: sit, roll over, and fetch.
